Upgrading the trigger is one of the most noticeable changes you can make to an AR-15. In this casual Gun Websites bench session, a Geissele trigger goes into a lower while the crew talks about why it is worth the money.
Why Geissele
- A clean, crisp feel compared with a standard mil-spec trigger.
- Durability: many match triggers wear quickly, but Geissele triggers are built to outlast even standard triggers.
- About $200 at the time, which the crew considered worth it.
- Geissele makes many models. This one was the SSA-E, a two-stage trigger.
Installation notes
- Grease the contact surfaces during installation. Nothing special is needed, just lubrication.
- Use properly sized punches. Improvising works, but the right tools make the job easier and safer for the receiver.
- Install it with the lower held in a proper block or vise, not freehand.
Before you buy
- Decide between single-stage and two-stage based on how you shoot.
- Function check after any trigger installation: safe, fire, reset, and the hammer must not fall with the safety on.
