AR15 Bolt Carrier Assembly

Staking AR15 Bolt Screws
Sat May 24 2008
Think every company does this at the factory? Sorry to say they do not. Some do a poor job, some do not even attempt it, and just a few do it well at the factory. This is an important part of the AR15 / M16 operation. These screws need to be very tight in order to keep a pressure tight seal in the bolt assembly. In this photograph, the factory stake can be seen at the right while a gunsmith stake can be seen in the middle and a bolt with no stake at all to keep the screws in place (but this bolt is from a gas piston AR, so a seal is not needed, see the dovetail connection instead)
